Thank you to everyone who joined Promise Community Health Center for the 14th annual Evening of Promise!
On October 19th, 2023, An Evening of Promise was held at Terrace View Event Center in Sioux Center, Iowa. An Evening of Promise is Promise Community Health Center’s annual fundraising event where guests learn about the exciting initiatives happening at Promise and the program Promise is fundraising for.
The evening began with a welcome from the MC, Jeff Rens. During this time, he seized the opportunity to inform the crowd of the events of the night. Promise Community Health Center CEO, Emily Tuschen, then addressed the crowd and spoke about Promise’s new services in 2023. She also elaborated on Promise’s mission and commended the staff who make Promise a high-performing, patient-focused, and award-winning community health center.
Marketing Director, Kris Gesink, then spoke about the importance of the mental health services provided at Promise and about the new play therapy room for children which will be available after the expansion is completed. Kris spoke about her family’s experience with play therapy and its positive impact on their son, Makai. Funds donated, directly support equipping the play therapy with anything it might need to serve our patients better.
The 2023 Addink Community Service Award was presented by COO, Amy McAlpine, to Winter Warm Up founder Lisa Doleman. The program donates thousands of coasts and other winter items to children and adults in the community. Inspired by the Bible verse 1 Corinthians 16:14, the ministry quickly gained momentum as local churches and communities rallied to collect and donate winter gear. Beyond being a coat distribution initiative, Winter Warm Up embodies the transformative power of faith, community, and compassion.
Throughout the night, guests enjoyed an amazing dinner prepared by Iron Horse BBQ out of Granville and wonderful entertainment from The Dueling Duo, Dueling Pianos, guests were invited to donate to fund the play therapy room. The goal for the night was to raise $10,000. During the evening, more than $18,000 was raised for the play therapy fund!
We could not have surpassed this goal without everyone’s generous contributions. Thank you for making a difference in patients’ lives. Promise appreciates your support and is honored to walk alongside people as they heal and grow!
The Evening of Promise was a great event. It was wonderful to see Promise staff, the Promise Board, and members of the community come together and support Promise and to see how invested the community is in improving health and access to essential mental health services.– Kendra Borchers - Evening of Promise Attendee
