A dental emergency is an issue involving the teeth and supporting tissues that is of high importance to be treated by a dental professional. Dental emergencies do not always involve pain, although this is a common signal that something needs to be looked at. Promise Community Health Center Dental Office has designated walk-in times for tooth pain, mouth emergencies or other dental needs. Times for these walk-in dental appointments vary on the day, and they are first come first serve.
Some examples of dental emergencies include but are not limited to:
- tooth fracture
- oral infection
- mouth pain
If you do have a dental emergency call Promise Community Health Center to talk with our dental coordinator. They will schedule a walk-in appointment if one is available with our local dentist. Call 712-722-1700 as soon as possible!
Promise Community Health Center performs various dental treatments including, but not limited to:
- dental fillings
- teeth extractions
- dental crowns and bridges
- child space maintainers
- mouth night guards
At Promise we are able to make referrals to other offices if needed as well. Promise also offers nitrous sedation, if needed.

The Promise Community Health Dental Team has extensive experience in custom partial dentures for our patients. A partial denture is a dental appliance that replaces one or more missing teeth, receiving support and retention from underlying tissues and some or all of the remaining teeth; it may be either permanently attached or removable. The Promise northwest Iowa dentist, local dental hygienist and dental lab technicians also have experience with adjusting and relining complete dentures as well!
Promise Community Health Center custom molds crowns and bridges by utilizing lab partners in northwest Iowa and around the United States. A dental crown is a fixed prosthetic “cap” that fits over a damaged tooth and restores it to its normal appearance and function. Dental bridges are meant to “bridge the gap” created when one or more teeth are missing from your mouth. Let our Promise dental lab technicians and dentist recommend the dental treatment and select the correct shade needed so your smile is beautiful and uniform!
Promise Community Health Center dental office treats both adults and children of all ages. Promise accepts most forms of insurances, including Medicaid, Delta Dental Wellness, and MCNA Dental. Promise also serves patients with no insurance. Sliding fee discounts are a possibility, just see our friendly Outreach staff!
Our Promise Community Health Center dental hygienist is able to perform dental teeth cleaning and also dental deep cleanings. A deep cleaning goes below the surface of the gum to clean periodontal pockets where bacteria hide. For patients with early stages of periodontal disease, tartar builds up under the gums. The only way to remove this buildup is by a deep cleaning.
Our Promise Community Health Center dental team recommend dental sealants for children ages 6 to 12 years of age. Sealants are a dental treatment intended to prevent tooth decay. Teeth naturally have pits and grooves on their biting surfaces which are vulnerable to tooth decay. Food and bacteria stick in these hard-to-clean areas. Dental sealants are materials placed in these pits and fissures to create a smooth, easy-to-clean surface. Dental sealants are usually placed as soon as the adult molar teeth come through.
Silver Diamine Fluoride or SDF is an injection-free way of stopping the progression of cavities. Promise Community Health Center typically uses this for children ages 0-5 years as a treatment on cavities, until the child is ready for regular fillings. Silver Diamine Fluoride is an FDA-approved antibiotic liquid clinically applied to control active dental cavities and prevent further progression of disease.
Treatment with Silver Diamine Fluoride will not eliminate the need for restorative dentistry to repair function or aesthetics, but has been effective at prevention of further decay. Contact Promise for more information today email@example.com or call 712-722-1700.
