The Population health team from Promise has collaborated with the Hope food pantry since the beginning of 2020. Each week, one or more of our team members have had the privilege of building relationships with others in our community and the surrounding communities through Hope Food pantry. While seeking connections we have been able to provide information on the services Promise has to offer to everyone.
The team from Promise has been able to work alongside Hope food pantry to identify needs of the patrons. Our team was able to translate into Spanish the instructions for preparing a Minestrone soup that is a great option at the pantry, but often overlooked due to uncertainty of the package. We were able to prepare a sampling of the Minestrone soup for patrons to try!
Promise and Sioux Center Christian School recently partnered together during SCCS’ reading between the trees book drive to provide books for our patients. The Population health team was able to take some of these awesome books to Hope food pantry and provide kids with books to take home. Two young boys were so excited that they sat down and began reading their new books immediately!
As we spend time with our neighbors at Hope food pantry the Population health team continues to explore needs and opportunities to connect with and serve others. This coming week, Wednesday, April 18 we will provide free blood pressure screenings from 1pm- 3pm as well as some basic tips on blood pressure management. Our team looks forward to our time at Hope food pantry each week and we are grateful to carry out the Promise of a healthier community.
