The Kluenders’ Promise Home Birth Experience
What did you appreciate most about your prenatal checkups and appointments?
“I always felt heard, valued, and appreciated during my appointments as well as given time to make decisions for prenatal and/or birth interventions. Appointments were never rushed and my oldest child was always welcomed by the staff. I genuinely felt as though they were grateful we chose their providers to treat our family rather than a number on a patient chart.”
What did you appreciate most about your labor/delivery experience?
“This birthing experience was much different than my first delivery; however, each team member continued to provide love and support even when I was losing confidence in myself. They were nurturing and a guiding voice without any sense of rushing. When there was tears, Kari was right there to provide a kind embrace or grip of my hand. Every recommended position or intervention was explained without any pressure to decide in that exact moment.”
What would you tell other patients considering coming to Promise for their prenatal care?
“As someone who initially started prenatal care with her first child elsewhere, I cannot imagine ever delivering another baby without the Promise family. From the waiting room, to the office visits, to the delivery, it was all family-focused, patient-centered, and evidence-based. I never left with questions but I always left with clarity in my choices. They are truly unlike any other healthcare location.”
What would you tell other patients considering having a home birth?
“DO IT!
We hadn’t originally considered home birth with our first and now we have delivered two babies at home! We wouldn’t go back and change our decision for the world. The midwifery team comes equipped with all necessary medical interventions and is prepared for any birthing emergency. I felt safe, seen, and calm in our home rather than handed off to shifts, beeping machines, and bright lights. Holding our newborn baby boys in the comfort of our own bed provided a wholesome memory and a peaceful transition to the fourth trimester. It created a perfect environment for my husband and I to bond with our newborns.”
