Audra DeGroot, CNM, ARNP is HERE FOR EVERY STEP!
Audra DeGroot, one of Promise Community Health Center’s certified nurse midwives began working at Promise in 2021. While going to nursing school, Audra was able to shadow two certified nurse midwives (CNMs). She was amazed by the incredible relationship built between them and the women they cared for. After having a CNM for the birth of her 1st baby, she was sure she wanted to continue her career partnering with women in all stages of their healthcare journeys. When she heard about an opening on the Women’s Health and OB Team at Promise Community Health Center, she knew she had found the place she wanted to be. Audra felt that the Midwifery practices at Promise CHC aligned with her values and the care she wanted women and their families to experience. “I feel so blessed that women let me be a partner in their healthcare journey, especially during some incredibly life-changing events. It is a privilege to be able to spend such important moments with patients and their families who invite me to participate in their care,” Audra DeGroot shares.

As someone who was able to receive care personally from a CNM for all her pregnancies and birth, Audra can’t recommend midwifery care enough. Midwifery care is all about advocating for women and making them active participants in their own unique individualized care. Midwifery care involves thorough screenings and educational visits throughout the pregnancy. If a family decides to do a home birth, the experience is personalized for each patient. The process is a partnership when discussing what labor, delivery, and postpartum support will look like at home.

Promise Community Health Center is the only facility in the northwest Iowa area that offers the opportunity to have an assisted birth in your home with a Certified Nurse Midwife. Our Iowa Midwives are highly trained and have over 40+ years of combined birthing experience. What do you want your birth experience to look like? Our providers take the time to respectfully explore that question. Patients must be located within 60 miles of Sioux Center, have a low-risk pregnancy, no history of cesarean section and no major medical history.
