Congratulations to the recipient of The Scholarship of Promise scholarship, Itzel Garcia Lopez. Itzel is the daughter of Cleotilde Lopez Cortes and Fernando Nunez Navarro. She is a Sioux Center High School graduate and plans on pursuing higher education at Dordt University in the behavioral health or social work field. Congratulations Itzel!
The scholarship was established in 2022 to encourage and support students pursuing a two or four-year degree in the healthcare field. It is available to Sioux Center residents graduating from high school to help with the financial cost of their education.
Applicants must be planning to continue their education at an accredited trade school, college, or university. The applicants must also submit a video that is 3 minutes long or less answering specific questions about their interest and passion for the healthcare field. The Promise Community Health Center scholarship committee selects one recipient for the award, which provides a 1-year $1000 scholarship.
Promise Community Health Center is excited to continue to offer this scholarship to other students in the future. The organization’s mission is to provide patients with accessible and affordable healthcare to improve the well-being of all persons.
The scholarship was presented by Promise’s Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator, Kris Gesink, at Sioux Center High School’s awards ceremony.
