Promise Community Health Center is excited to share some wonderful news—we have once again been awarded the Vitamin Angels grant! This continued partnership, which began in 2016, allows us to keep supporting the health and well-being of women in our community by providing prenatal vitamins at no cost.

At Promise, we know that access to essential nutrients plays a critical role in healthy pregnancies and positive birth outcomes. Thanks to this grant, we have received more than 500 bottles of prenatal vitamins to distribute to women in our care. Even more exciting, this program is designed not only for those who are currently pregnant, but also encourages women of childbearing age—especially those facing barriers to access—to begin taking prenatal vitamins before pregnancy.
These vitamins contain 15 essential vitamins and minerals that help meet daily nutritional needs, reduce the risk of anemia, and support the healthy development of babies by decreasing the risk of certain birth defects. Taking just one capsule daily can make a meaningful difference in both maternal and child health.
Promise providers will offer these vitamins during well-woman exams, fertility counseling visits, postpartum and prenatal appointments, and to any patient who may benefit. There is no cost to patients, and while there is no strict limit on how many bottles a patient may receive in a year, we will provide one bottle at a time to ensure ongoing access for all who need them.
Our care teams also provide helpful guidance to patients, including how to take the vitamins, what benefits they provide, and tips for managing minor side effects—such as taking them with food or before bed if they cause an upset stomach. Because these vitamins contain iron, we also remind patients to keep them safely out of reach of children.
Vitamin Angels is dedicated to improving nutrition and health outcomes for underserved populations around the world, and we are honored to continue partnering with them in this important work.

We are incredibly grateful for this ongoing support and the opportunity to continue removing barriers to care. At Promise Community Health Center, we remain committed to helping women and families thrive—before, during, and after pregnancy. Help us spread the word—share this opportunity with women in our community who may benefit from access to free prenatal vitamins.
