Jakob and Sonya received their prenatal care for Jalen Isaac from Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, Iowa, and OB Nurse Kris Tinklenberg, part of the home birth team from Promise.
Sonya and Jakob opened their home for Jalen’s home birth in Hudson, South Dakota. Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney and OB Nurse Kris Tinklenberg helped deliver Jalen Isaac during the birth at their home.
Jalen Isaac was welcomed into the family by 3 big sisters and 4 big brothers!

Sonya loved seeing Kari, her midwife and Kris her OB nurse at Promise Community Health Center for all her prenatal check ups. At each appointment, Sonya and her family loved seeing how much Jalen had grown. Jakob and Sonya were so thankful for the amazing care they received during labor and delivery, they made Sonya feel comfortable and knew just what do as labor progressed. The Deckers shared the Promise team was the best team and amazing coaches. Post birth of Jalen, Sonya loved the good care she received from the Promise team.

Promise Community Health Center is the only facility in the northwest Iowa area that offers the opportunity to have an assisted birth in your home with Certified Nurse Midwives. Our Midwives are highly trained and have over 40+ years of combined birthing experience. What do you want your birth experience to look like? Our providers take the time to respectfully explore that question. Patients must be located within 75 miles of Sioux Center, have a low-risk pregnancy, no history of cesarean section and no major medical history.
