Promise Community Health Center is excited to announce that Bronwen Dean has joined our team as a Midwife and Women’s Health Provider!
After spending more than two decades helping families welcome new life as a labor and delivery nurse, Bronwen Dean is excited to begin a new chapter as a Certified Nurse Midwife at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Bronwen later moved to Ames, Iowa, where she attended college and began her journey into healthcare. Today, she calls Sioux Center home and is looking forward to caring for women and families throughout northwest Iowa.
Bronwen brings more than 20 years of labor and delivery experience, caring for patients in both large and small hospitals across Iowa. Since 2021, she has served families at Sioux Center Health while completing her education to become a Doctor of Nursing Practice-prepared Certified Nurse Midwife (DNP, CNM). She also holds certification as a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), allowing her to provide additional support to mothers throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.
In 2022, Bronwen became a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner, a role that sparked an even greater passion for helping parents experience more comfort and confidence during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Her doctoral project focused on using Spinning Babies techniques to reduce pregnancy-related low back pain and improve function during pregnancy, work that reflects her commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Bronwen first became familiar with Promise Community Health Center while completing clinical hours with Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney.
Promise already has an established population that truly values and desires midwifery care,” Bronwen said. “I’m excited to join a team that shares my passion for supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.– Bronwen Dean - Midwife and Women's Health Provider
As a Certified Nurse Midwife, Bronwen believes some of the most important parts of her role are building trust and creating meaningful relationships with her patients.
She also enjoys helping patients understand what is happening in their bodies during pregnancy and labor, making complex medical information easier to understand and empowering families to make informed decisions about their care.

At Promise Community Health Center, Bronwen will provide comprehensive women’s healthcare services, including prenatal care, labor and delivery support, postpartum care, breastfeeding support, annual wellness exams, family planning, and other women’s health services. She looks forward to working alongside the Promise Women’s Health Team to provide compassionate, personalized care for every patient.
Outside of work, Bronwen enjoys spending time with her husband and their five children. Their family stays busy as their children pursue college, athletics, and high school activities across the Midwest, making family time especially meaningful whenever everyone is together.
With her years of experience and commitment to compassionate, family-centered care, Bronwen is excited to begin serving women and growing families at Promise Community Health Center.
Please join us in welcoming Bronwen Dean to the Promise Community Health Center team!
