WELCOME MISS THEA JOY – Celebrating a home birth in Orange City, Iowa
Miss Thea Joy was welcomed into the world at home, by parents Samuel and Bailey Van Ginkel. Samuel and Bailey had a safe and empowering home birth experience in Orange City, Iowa under the care of experienced Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney and OB Nurse Kris Tinklenberg.

Samuel and Bailey chose to receive their prenatal care from Promise Community Health Center, a trusted provider of home birth services in Sioux Center, Iowa. Promise’s team of three certified nurse midwives – Audra De Groot, Kari Ney, and Jeannette Hasley – along with registered nurses, medical assistants, and interpreters, provided exceptional care and support throughout Thea’s journey into the world.
The home birth took place in the Van Ginkel’s welcoming home, with Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney and OB Nurse Kris Tinklenberg providing expert guidance and assistance. Miss Thea Joy was born into a nurturing environment surrounded by her loved ones.
Miss Thea Joy is also welcomed by big sister Ada Mae (3).
At Samuel and Bailey’s home birth, the focus was on empowering the family and providing a safe, supportive environment for the baby’s arrival. Congratulations to the Van Ginkel’s family on this beautiful home birth experience!

Samuel and Bailey loved building a relationship with Kris and Kari before labor at their appointments and talking about their hopes for their birth experience. A highlight for them was being able to cuddle and relax in their own bed and enjoy the bliss right after Thea was born while being cared for by Kari and Kris.
