We’re overjoyed to introduce Miss Sylvia Frances, who was lovingly brought into the world at home by her delighted parents, Carson and Madeline Tesch. Baby Sylvia arrived safely and peacefully in Maurice, Iowa, with the compassionate care of Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney and OB Nurse Jaclyn Schelling guiding the way.

What would you tell other patients considering having a home birth?
“Do your research, figure out the birth you dream to have, get your spouse on board, and believe in your body’s ability to birth your baby. Promise has great staff that are going to make sure that you and your baby are healthy the whole time. When you feel safe and supported you can have such a beautiful and empowering home birth experience. The more you research and learn about all the ins and outs in birth the more confident you will be!”

Promise Community Health Center is the only facility in the northwest Iowa area that offers the opportunity to have an assisted birth in your home with a Certified Nurse Midwife. Our Iowa Midwives are highly trained and have over 40+ years of combined birthing experience. What do you want your birth experience to look like? Our providers take the time to respectfully explore that question. Patients must be located within 60 miles of Sioux Center, have a low-risk pregnancy, no history of cesarean section and no major medical history.
