We are excited to announce that Kari Ney, one of our certified nurse midwives, has recently completed a comprehensive course in functional medicine. Kari is now expanding her services to include functional medicine as a part of our holistic approach to health care.
Functional medicine is a patient-centered, science-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness, rather than simply treating symptoms. It integrates traditional medicine with a deeper understanding of lifestyle, genetics, and environmental factors to promote overall wellness. This approach often includes personalized treatment plans, nutrition, and preventive care, aiming for long-term health improvements.
I am thrilled to bring functional medicine to Promise Community Health Center. Through this course, I have gained a greater understanding of how to work with patients on a deeper level, addressing their unique health needs. Functional medicine gives us the tools to look beyond a diagnosis and create individualized plans that improve overall well-being. I look forward to working with our patients and supporting them on their health journeys.– Kari Ney, Certified Nurse Midwife
Functional medicine offers a range of benefits, including:
- Personalized care: Each patient’s plan is tailored to their specific health goals and needs.
- Preventive focus: It emphasizes preventive care, helping patients avoid chronic diseases by addressing lifestyle, diet, and environmental factors.
- Holistic treatment: Rather than just managing symptoms, functional medicine seeks to identify and treat the root causes of health issues.
- Collaborative approach: Practitioners work closely with patients, empowering them to take an active role in their health decisions.
As we integrate functional medicine into the services at Promise, patients will have access to a more personalized and in-depth level of care. Kari will work closely with patients to develop customized plans that align with their unique health needs, helping to achieve optimal wellness. This new service will be especially beneficial for individuals dealing with chronic conditions, complex medical histories, or those looking to take a proactive approach to their health.
