Zachery and Olivia received their prenatal care for Joseph from Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, Iowa, and OB Nurse Kris Tinklenberg, part of the home birth team from Promise.
The DeRoos family opened their home for Joseph’s home birth in Alta, Iowa. Certified Nurse Midwife Kari New and OB Nurse Kris Tinklenberg helped deliver Joseph during the birth at their home.
Joseph Daniel was welcomed into the family by big brothers Jude (4), Jesse (3), and Jamie (2).

Promise Community Health Center is the only facility in the northwest Iowa area that offers the opportunity to have an assisted birth in your home with Certified Nurse Midwives. Our Midwives are highly trained and have over 40+ years of combined birthing experience. What do you want your birth experience to look like? Our providers take the time to respectfully explore that question. Patients must be located within 75 miles of Sioux Center, have a low-risk pregnancy, no history of cesarean section and no major medical history.
