It’s been three weeks of self-care talk and today, we are tying it all together by giving you some daily self-care mantras, activities, and things to do to continue or start your self-care journey. Here is a list of low-cost and accessible things to do and try day to day at work, home, or school.
- Go for a barefoot walk on the grass
- Soak in some sun for 10-15 minutes
- Take 5-10 minutes for self-reflection/prayer/meditation
- Allow yourself to receive help from others
- Practice saying “no”
- Learn a new skill or learn about a new topic of interest
- Tell yourself, “I deserve to take care of myself”
- Allow others to be in charge
- Make a scribble drawing for 3-5 minutes and let out your day’s frustrations
- Communicate your needs
- Make a gratitude list (mental or written)
- Dance around for 5 minutes to your favorite song
- Do the thing you have been procrastinating on (oh the relief you will feel)
- Go on a social media/news cleanse for a day… or two
- Practice breathing exercises on your way to/from someplace
- Make a mantra for your week – (i.e., I can make time to nourish my mind, body, and spirit)
- Take inventory of the things you do for yourself on a daily basis: take a moment to feel proud
- Allow yourself to feel an emotion without judging it or analyzing it. Let it just be.
- Do your favorite activity from childhood (i.e., crafting, singing, reading, watching Disney movies…)
- Challenge yourself to schedule time for 1-2 self-care activities a day from this list and more!
