Kari Ney, CNM, ARNP is HERE FOR EVERY STEP!
Kari Ney, one of Promise Community Health Center’s certified nurse midwives began working at Promise in 2013. Before coming to Promise in 2013, Kari worked at Avera and Sioux Center Health for many years. Promise’s mission to serve the underserved and her passion for helping others spoke to Kari’s heart. While working at Promise, she went back to school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife in 2019. She was drawn to the midwifery profession because of her desire to walk alongside women. Kari gets to teach and guide women through some of the most important times of their lives. “It is such a blessing to be a part of the lives we touch each day. Women choose us in such monumental times of life, and I am so grateful for this opportunity to support and walk alongside them,” Kari Ney shared.
Some of the women’s health services Kari Ney offers are:
• Primary care of women for things like sore throats, coughs
• Work or school physicals
• Well-Woman exams
• Cycle, thyroid, and hormonal concerns or questions
• Birth control (pills, IUDs, Nexplanon)
• Natural Family Planning education
• Prenatal care through postpartum care
• Home-birth
In her role, she is able to collaborate with other Promise teams such as the medical and mental health departments and other local specialists to offer the best quality care to the women she serves. Collaboration is critical when helping patients navigate what it means to be a woman and exploring the physical and emotional changes that come with becoming a mother. With home birth patients it is also important as the team strives for a safe labor, birth, and postpartum experience.
As one of the few midwives in the area, Kari Ney loves providing midwifery services and feels blessed to do so at Promise Community Health Center. Kari’s favorite thing about being a Midwife is getting to know the women that come to Promise Community Health Center and their families.
I love helping my patients reach their goals of maintaining a healthy pregnancy and achieving the birth they desire. My advice for seeking a healthcare provider is to look for someone whose values and goals align with yours. Promise Community Health Center Midwives in Iowa
Promise Community Health Center is the only facility in the northwest Iowa area that offers the opportunity to have an assisted birth in your home with a Certified Nurse Midwife. Our Iowa Midwives are highly trained and have over 40+ years of combined birthing experience. What do you want your birth experience to look like? Our providers take the time to respectfully explore that question. Patients must be located within 60 miles of Sioux Center, have a low-risk pregnancy, no history of cesarean section and no major medical history. Call Promise to schedule an appointment for free pregnancy testing and meet with a Promise Nurse for next steps. Your plan may include scheduling an appointment with our Promise midwife providers for prenatal care or fertility counseling. If you don’t wish to become pregnant right now, your plan can include scheduling an appointment with our providers for birth control options.
