We know starting therapy or even taking the step of asking for help can be difficult – we hope this informative article series with help reduce your questions and concerns! Here are some common questions you might have about making a mental health appointment at Promise:
How can I get started with mental health services at Promise?
- If you are at Promise and are at an appointment with your medical provider, you can speak to your provider about referring you to a therapist. Referrals are not required for getting into therapy at Promise, anyone can walk in and talk with our front desk to set up an appointment. Patients can also call or email us to request an appointment with our therapists.
What do I need to say when I call Promise?
- When calling in, please state you are looking to schedule an appointment with a mental health therapist. You can ask to speak with the Mental Health Coordinator if you have any specific questions regarding insurance, or the types of therapy each provider is trained in. You can find all the therapy specifics listed here on our services page, look there to see what types of therapies our therapists are certified in and use in therapy for treatment.
What do I need to include in my email?
- When sending an email, please state you are wanting to schedule an appointment with a therapist at Promise and your preferred method of being contacted to schedule. Very similar to when calling in, we can get you registered as a new patient over email or confirm demographic details for current patients. To get an estimate for cost, it helps to have updated insurance information.
What if I am already a patient at Promise?
- If you are already a Promise patient, when you call, we will confirm demographics and insurance information are up to date. We will also inquire about preferred days of the week or times of the day so we can take that into consideration when scheduling the appointment. If you feel comfortable, we will ask you to give a detailed or broad reason for why you are seeking out therapy to give our providers some information before your first visit.
- If you are new to Promise, we will take your demographic information – such as phone number, address, and insurance information to register you as a new patient. We will follow the aforementioned steps as well such as preferred days, etc.
