March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and we wanted to send you a reminder about the importance of colorectal screenings and how they save lives!
Getting a colon cancer screening is very important as cancer rates are on the rise. Colorectal cancer is the second deadliest form of cancer in the U.S. for men and women, and the good news is it is preventable. Screening is important for detecting any cancer, and when found early, treatment is most effective. Often symptoms do not show until the cancer is more advanced, which is why getting screened at the recommended ages is so important.
Colorectal Cancer Quick Facts:
- Screening is now recommended starting at age 45
- Of all cancers, colorectal cancer will take the most lives of people under 50 by 2030
- 30% of diagnoses are under age 55
- 1 in 23 men and 1 in 26 women will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer in their lifetime
