Sioux Center Health, Community Health Partners of Sioux County and Promise Community Health Center, held the Healthy Hero event on Saturday, August 22nd.
It was a HUGE success!
The day started early with set up and getting ready for all the families, runners and walkers. The teams from Community Health Partners, Sioux Center Health and Promise were excited to get everyone checked in and ready!
We were so excited to see all the kiddos (and some adults) in their SUPER HERO costumes! Lots of Healthy Heroes!
At 9:15am the 5K runners started with 5 staggered starts. The staggered starts helped with keeping people socially distanced. The Sioux Center Warrior Football Team came to cheer the runners on! It was so fun to see runners with friends, family, strollers and even pets! We officially had 50 people run the 5K!
The 2K was a HUGE hit with our Healthy Heroes Event as we had 44 kiddos & a few mommas participate! This was many of the kids first time running in an event like this and it was so fun to see their big smiles as they waited to run and heard the football players, the firemen and police officer cheering for them!
One of our absolute favorite parts of the day was the FINISH LINE! Seeing runners being cheered on by the football team and then cheering others on as they finished was such a fun part of the day! Then in ran the kiddos! They were thrilled to hear so many cheering them on to finish AND the best part getting their medals! SO MUCH FUN!
Another fun part of the day was the socially distanced Health Fair. We were excited to share with families about eating healthy, handling stress in a healthy way and more! Thank you to all our booths for partnering with this event to help educate kiddos and families about being healthy!

Warm Ups with the Physical Therapy Team from Sioux Center Health was next as well as the 1K Family Fun Walk. This walk included lots of fun hands off activities for the whole family!
