WELCOME MISS KENNA JOY – Celebrating a home birth in Chancellor, South Dakota!
Join us in welcoming the first Promise baby of 2024, Miss Kenna Joy! She made her grand entrance into the world at home in Chancellor, South Dakota. Her parents, Kianne and Kenny Gilles, had a safe and empowering home birth experience under the care of experienced Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney and OB Nurses Kris Tinklenberg and Katie Milbrath.

Kianne and Kenny chose to receive prenatal care from Promise Community Health Center, a trusted provider of home birth services in Sioux Center, Iowa. Promise’s team of two certified nurse midwives – Audra De Groot and Kari Ney – along with registered nurses and medical assistants, provided exceptional care throughout Kenna’s journey into the world.
The home birth took place in the Gilles’ welcoming home, with Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney and OB Nurses Kris Tinklenberg and Katie Milbrath providing expert guidance and assistance. Kenna Joy was born into a nurturing environment surrounded by her loved ones.
Baby Kenna is also welcomed by big sisters Amera (12) and Makaya (7).
At Kenna Joy’s home birth, the focus was on empowering the family and providing a safe, supportive environment for her arrival. Congratulations to the Gilles family on this beautiful home birth experience!

Kianne and Kenny said that the OB Team was able to make it through a full blown South Dakota blizzard at 7am and baby Kenna Joy arrived at 8:33 am!

Patients must be located within 60 miles of Sioux Center, have a low-risk pregnancy, no history of cesarean section and no major medical history.
