Promise Community Health Center has been awarded the UCare Iowa Partnership Grant to support its latest initiative, the Powerful Connections (Conexion Poderosa) program, and other women’s health initiatives!
This grant, offered exclusively to rural health clinics, highlights the essential role of community health centers like Promise in addressing healthcare gaps for underserved populations. The Powerful Connections program is designed to support Spanish-speaking women within Sioux County who face significant barriers to healthcare access. Through a series of educational sessions, Promise aims to empower participants with resources and knowledge, all delivered in Spanish. To make participation more accessible, each session offers complimentary childcare, food, and transportation assistance.
The program started in the summer of 2024 and featured a four-week series covering important health topics, including mental health, maternal support, finances, and overall well-being. These sessions, led by Promise team members, created an interactive space where women could connect with healthcare providers and build a network of support with other participants.
Another focus of this grant will be to provide education on pregnancy, contraceptive options, and other women’s health care areas. By empowering women with these resources, Promise seeks to support informed healthcare decisions and overall wellness.
Securing the UCare Iowa Partnership Grant underscores Promise’s commitment to reducing healthcare disparities and meeting the unique needs of individuals who face barriers to essential services. This initiative promises to foster a healthier community.
