Elaine Jade, daughter of Levi and Lauren Hertz of Menno, SD, was born 10:58 a.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018, in their home, weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and measuring 21 inches. She has three siblings, Liam, 5; Benjamin, 3; and James, 1.
Certified nurse midwife Pam Hulstein of Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, IA, provided the prenatal care for the family throughout the pregnancy and attended the home birth.
Lauren said she “wouldn’t change the home birth for anything” even though it hurts more without an epidural.
“It was so nice to be in my own element with such personable and sweet people helping me have this blessing,” she said.
