Promise Community Health Center is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded an Iowa Cancer Consortium Grant to address the growing rates of lung and oral cancer in Northwest Iowa. This funding will allow Promise to implement initiatives aimed at reducing cancer risks and improving health outcomes.
With the support from the Iowa Cancer Consortium Grant, Promise Community Health Center will focus on combating the root causes of lung and oral cancer by enhancing prevention, screening, and education efforts. This initiative will involve expanding tobacco screening to implement more rigorous assessments that identify patients at risk early, allowing us to offer tailored interventions. We will also provide counseling for smoking, vaping, and chewing tobacco cessation to help patients who want to quit these habits.
This project also focuses on community education and collaboration. By working closely with local organizations and healthcare providers, our goal is to raise awareness about the risks of lung and oral cancer, promote preventive care, and create a stronger support network for patients.
This grant gives us an amazing opportunity to continue making a positive impact on our community! By expanding our tobacco screening efforts, offering more comprehensive cessation counseling, and increasing access to preventive measures like HPV vaccinations and cancer screenings, we can help our patients lead healthier lives.– Amanda Rickard, Population Health Manager
The Iowa Cancer Consortium Grant will help us to enhance our efforts in addressing the growing concerns of lung and oral cancer. With this support, we are committed to improving health outcomes and ensuring that everyone in our community has access to high-quality, preventive care.
