October 2 to 8, 2022 marks National Midwifery Week. This week we recognize midwives and midwife-led primary care for families, individual patients, moms, and babies. At Promise Community Health Center we believe that Midwives make a difference that spans well beyond home births and delivering babies.
Kari Ney, a certified nurse midwife at Promise Community Health Center since 2013, brings a wealth of experience from her many years of experience. Her dedication to serving the underserved aligns perfectly with Promise’s mission. In 2019, she became a Certified Nurse Midwife, drawn to this profession by her desire to support women through every stage of their healthcare journey.
Kari Ney offers a range of women’s health services, including primary care, physicals, well-woman exams, and guidance on various health concerns. She also specializes in birth control options, natural family planning, and prenatal to postpartum care.
Kari is passionate about collaborating with other Promise teams and local specialists to provide comprehensive care. Being one of the few midwives in the area, Kari Ney cherishes her role at Promise. She loves getting to know her patients and their families, helping them achieve healthy pregnancies and positive birth experiences.

Audra DeGroot, a certified nurse midwife at Promise Community Health Center since 2021, discovered her passion for midwifery during nursing school. Inspired by the strong bonds CNMs formed with the women they cared for, Audra knew she wanted to join this profession. Her own positive experience with a CNM during her first childbirth solidified her commitment.
Audra found her ideal workplace at Promise Community Health Center, where she felt their values aligned with her own. She considers it a privilege to support women through life-changing events. Audra’s women’s health services include well-woman exams, breast exams, pap smears, cycle counseling, and birth control options.
As someone who personally benefited from CNM care, Audra highly recommends midwifery. It’s about advocating for women and involving them in their unique care journey. Midwifery emphasizes individualized care, thorough screenings, and educational visits during pregnancy. For those considering home birth, Audra offers a personalized experience, discussing labor, delivery, and postpartum support.
Jeannette Hasley, brings a wealth of expertise to the Promise Women’s Health/OB Team. She holds a diploma in nursing from St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing, a BSN from The University of Iowa, and an MSN, CNM, ARNP from Frontier Nursing University. She began her career at Promise in fall 2022 and officially joined as a full-time midwife in January 2023. Her firsthand experience with our OB Team during clinical hours left her impressed by our welcoming culture and compassionate care for patients.
Jeannette is thrilled to expand the Midwifery model of care to more women in the area, not only for pregnancy and newborns but for all women. She, along with Kari and Audra, also midwives at Promise, provides comprehensive and personalized OB services.
