Planned home birth
Did you know that our Promise midwives can help you with a prenatal plan that works best for you and your family and fits just what you envision your home labor to look like.
Mark and Chelsey Feauto had their daughter Norah Christine on April 14, 2021, at 10:49 pm. Norah weighed 8 lbs 2oz, and was 21.5 inches long. The Feauto family received all their prenatal care from Certified Midwife Belinda Lassen and the Promise OB Nurses. The family had a home birth at their home in Spencer, Iowa.
Norah Christine was welcomed into the family by her older brother Malachi (3.5) and Truett (1.5).
The Feauto family switched their prenatal care to Promise at about 21 weeks, and they were thankful it was not too late to take that step toward the birth that they desired. The family thought the staff was very kind and considerate of any questions or concerns they had as they sought a redemptive birth experience. As the due date passed, Mark and Chelsey thought that Belinda was very calm and trusting in Chelsey’s body’s ability to birth naturally, yet took things seriously and took the necessary steps (non-stress tests and ultrasound) to ensure their baby was still safe to remain until labor started.
Mark and Chelsey said that this experience was so different from their past OB/hospital experiences. They thought it was refreshing to have care providers who truly trust the body in its true design and not rush things or do things out of fear unnecessarily.
What would you tell other patients considering Promise for their prenatal care?
I 110% recommend Promise for prenatal care! They’re thorough and really take time for you and your baby’s care. The staff is welcoming and friendly and become like family! You will be cared for and your body will be trusted. Decisions will be made with caution, but not out of fear.
What would you tell other patients considering having a home birth?
Even if you’ve delivered in a hospital setting before, if a home birth is a desire for you, go for it! After having two hospital deliveries that didn’t go the way I’d hoped, we were seeking a redemptive birth experience and with the help of Promise’s staff, we had that and more! We were given the time to let labor happen spontaneously and I was so well supported, coached, and encouraged when it did happen (at 41+3)! It was beautiful and so nice to be home that night! Belinda and Erica left our home in a way that you’d have never guessed we’d just delivered a baby in our living room! I also fully trusted Belinda to be able to make the call to transfer should the need arise.
