She also had a background in medical records and loved that work.
Therefore, Marks thought it would be a perfect fit when she saw that Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center had created the position of health records specialist. She was hired and recently assumed the role at the health center.
“I hope that I can bring my experience in this field to Promise,” she said. “I also want to bring awareness of the Promise community.”
Marks grew up in Sanborn and graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull in 1980. She earned an associate degree in accounting from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon in 1981 and later returned to school to receive a general diploma in the administrative assistant field from NCC in 1992.
She worked for various area business throughout the years, but her longest stint was as an administrative office assistant at Wheelchair Dynamics in Sheldon for 12 years, 2003-15. There, she was trained to work with medical records, and a large portion of her duties involved handling medical records.
At Promise, Marks will be responsible for daily activities involving the processing, managing and transmitting of electronic health records.
She has been impressed by the health center.
“The personnel at Promise are very kind, compassionate and caring people that provide an awesome service to those they serve,” she said.
Promise Community Health Center of Sioux Center is the only Federally Qualified Health Center serving the far northwest corner of Iowa.
