Promise Community Health Center is excited to announce that Amy McAlpine has taken on the role of Chief Operating Officer. Responsibilities of this position include management of staff and resources as well as general oversight of operational planning and implementation.
Amy, a Sioux Center native, has been working in the community healthcare field for quite some time. After working for a non-profit disability services organization in Des Moines, she moved to back to Sioux Center in 2015 and started at Promise as an executive assistant, where she performed administrative tasks and supported the Executive Director. In 2016, she moved into the role of Data and Compliance Specialist, which involved leading the Quality Improvement program, risk management, and other areas of compliance. Here, Amy learned about clinical measures, workflows, best practices, and how to lead and support staff. In 2020, Amy became the Director of Quality and Program Development, where she continued her work with quality and risk management in addition to providing interdepartmental support.
For Amy, the draw of Promise is its commitment to mission-based healthcare. Her parents are missionaries and she has carried this focus into her career. Reflecting on this, Amy says, “I took a piece of this with me – finding work that focuses on loving and serving others. I think you can do mission work anywhere you are.”
Since starting, Amy has seen Promise more than double in number of employees and space, in addition to implementing more programs and taking on more patients.
Amy is excited to continue serving at Promise by increasing healthcare access and adapting to the needs of the community.
Amy graduated from Sioux Center High School and attended Central College in Pella, IA. Amy and her husband David McAlpine live in Sioux Center with their three boys. Their family likes to hike, visit zoos, and play with their energetic puppy Archie.
