Christian and Megan received their prenatal care for Miss Veronica from Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney at Promise Community Health Center in Sioux Center, Iowa, and OB Nurse Beth Marsh, part of the home birth team from Promise. Promise Community Health Center Prenatal/OB team includes three certified nurse midwives, Audra De Groot, Kari Ney, and Jeannette Halsey registered nurses, medical assistants, and interpreters.
The Figueroas opened their home for Veronica’s home birth in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Certified Nurse Midwife Kari Ney and OB Nurse Beth Marsh helped deliver Veronica during the birth at their home.
Veronica was welcomed into the family by big sister Cecilia (22m).

Baby Veronica arrived during a blizzard with windchills of -40. Christian and Megan were thankful for the Promise Community O.B. Staff and their willingness to make the drive. The Figueroas shared that the care they received at Promise is unmatched. They drive over an hour each way because they feel that it is worth it to be seen and treated the way Promise does.

Our Iowa Midwives are highly trained and have over 40+ years of combined birthing experience. What do you want your birth experience to look like? Our providers take the time to respectfully explore that question. Patients must be located within 60 miles of Sioux Center, have a low-risk pregnancy, no history of cesarean section and no major medical history.
