Job Summary: The Promise Director of Clinical Services oversees, directs and coordinates the health centers clinical staff and programs.  The Director of Clinical Services works with the senior leadership team in developing, managing, and implementing policies and protocols for clinical services.

REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervises, schedules, and provides training and continuous education to nursing and support staff to effectively and efficiently support Clinical Care Teams, resulting in patients receiving quality health care services.
2. Maintains expertise in the electronic health record system and serves as a resource to the members of the health care team, ensuring patient data is entered accurately and completely to meet current standards of care.
3. Facilitates continuity of care for Promise patients/families by working with patients/families, area medical and hospital staff, communities, and agencies through the development and coordination of Patient Education programs.
4. Provides clinical nurse duties in the clinical setting when necessary, including, but not limited to, assisting Providers, administering vaccines, administering prescribed lab tests and procedures, as well as oversees order management for supplies and maintenance of clinical space and equipment.
5. Serves as a liaison between staff and the Quality Improvement committee and Providers. clinical staff to ensure that UDS measures are in place, and that benchmarks for quality improvement activities are kept.
6. In collaboration with senior leadership, develops, implements, and maintains clinical policies, procedures, and related standards utilizing data, reports, and analysis related to program goals and objectives, and grant projects.
7. Authors, implements, and oversees clinical-related grant programs, including evaluating the outcomes.
8. Schedules clinical observations and rotations for students working with clinical staff and Providers.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Must have the ability to work as a team member, establishing effective relationships with patients and staff.
• Must be able to work well with low-income populations in a respectful manner.
• Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Evidence of graduation from an accredited nursing or health services program with a minimum of two years of clinical experience required (community-based practice desirable). A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.  Two years of nursing care management preferred.
• Must hold a license to practice nursing in the state of Iowa.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods of time, is required to use routine office equipment to talk, hear, write, read small print, and to lift boxes of no more than 30 pounds.
