Job Summary: The Patient Service Representative is responsible for the friendly and professional reception of our patients as the face of Promise Community Health Center. This position will provide efficient and accurate check-in, front desk reception friendly greeting, copay collection, and other administrative duties including obtaining required demographic information, insurance cards, and any additional necessary paperwork. This position is also responsible for informing patients about our sliding fee scale and providing applications. As a vital member of our team, this role will recognize and promote the cultural diversity of the patients we serve and the people we work with.
FULL TIME – 36-40 hours

REPORTS TO: Director of Patient Financial Services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Display and promote company values. (Promise Code)
- Meets and greets patients and guest in a welcoming manner
- Obtains and verifies demographic data from patients as they enter the facility
- Maintain up-to-date HIPAA knowledge and ensure compliance of HIPAA and safety guidelines.
- Collects payments (co-pays, sliding fee, outstanding balance and other).
- Answers basic questions regarding billing, insurance, Medicaid, health care concerns (medical and dental), and relays information to appropriate program staff; registers patients and establishes financial eligibility for billing.
- Notifies appropriate Provider and health team of arrival of patients.
- Records receipts of payment, prepares receipts for deposit. Handles petty cash for facility. Accounts for cash received prior to end of shift.
- Faxes and/or scans information to be sent to other health facilities on behalf of the health care (medical and dental) staff of Promise CHC.
- Refers patients to the Financial Counselors for assistance as needed with marketplace, sliding fee applications, and other financial inquiries.
- Assists with maintaining inventory of office and clinic settings.
- Maintains a clean and organized work station. Periodically checks reception area of the Health Center to restore order and cleanliness to the reception area.
- Attends staff meetings, in-service and trainings and Promise events on a regular basis.
- Performs other duties and functions as are necessary or incidental to the operations of the business office and health record needs of Promise.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma required.
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be computer literate.
- Must have the ability to work as a team member, establishing effective relationships with patients and staff. Must be able to work well with low income populations in a respectful manner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to sit for long periods of time, is required to use routine office equipment to talk, hear, write, read small print, and to lift boxes of no more than 30 pounds.
