Promise Community Health Center is thrilled to announce our Mental Health Psych Nurse Practitioner, Emily Leinen, has been recognized as one of N’West Iowa Review’s 20 Under 40!

Emily was drawn to Promise Community Health Center because of her deep belief in expanding access to high-quality, holistic care for underserved communities. Having previously worked at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), that experience reinforced her passion for serving diverse populations and advocating for equitable healthcare.
With a strong educational foundation, Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts in Nursing from Augustana University. She later obtained her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Mount Marty University, followed by her Post-Master’s certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, also from Mount Marty University.
I feel honored to be part of an organization that is rooted in consistent commitment to treating each patient with respect, empathy, and genuine concern. I am proud to be part of the Promise team and consider it a privilege to serve our community.– Emily Leinen
As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Promise, Emily provides compassionate, patient-centered behavioral health care. She plays an important role in ensuring patients have access to mental health services that are respectful, accessible, and tailored to their individual needs.
One of the hallmarks of Promise Community Health Center is its commitment to caring for the whole person. From medical, dental, and vision services to behavioral health and outreach support, Promise continues to meet the diverse needs of our rural community. Emily’s work strengthens that mission by helping expand access to quality mental health care for patients of all backgrounds.

Since joining Promise as a family nurse practitioner, Emily has consistently demonstrated exceptional drive and dedication to her patients. Her decision to return to school to deepen her expertise in psychiatric care reflects both her passion for advancing her knowledge and her commitment to addressing critical gaps in specialty services. By stepping forward to help establish our psychiatric nurse practitioner program, Emily played a pivotal role not only as a provider but also as a program developer. Her goal-oriented, organized, and thoughtful approach has strengthened clinical outcomes and significantly enhanced the quality of care we deliver.– Emily Tuschen - CEO
At Promise, collaboration and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do. Emily works closely with medical providers, nurses, and care teams to ensure patients receive comprehensive, integrated care. Her dedication and compassion make a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients she serves.
We are incredibly proud to have Emily as part of our team and congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition!
